Every Rotary project starts with something pretty simple: someone sees a need and believes we can do something about it.

The Rotary Foundation helps turn that belief into action.

November is Rotary Foundation Month, a time to better understand the Foundation and celebrate the difference Rotarians make when we combine our resources, relationships and commitment to Service Above Self.

Through the Foundation, Rotary clubs can take good ideas and give them greater reach. District and global grants help support projects addressing needs both close to home and around the world. Those projects can improve access to clean water, support education, strengthen communities, improve the health of mothers and children, build peace and much more.

And, of course, one of Rotary's most remarkable commitments continues to be the fight to end polio. Since 1988, Rotary and its partners have helped immunize nearly 3 billion children, with Rotary committing more than $2.6 billion toward eradication efforts.

But the Foundation isn't just about big numbers or projects in faraway places.

It's about what happens when Rotarians choose to work together.

It's a community need that becomes a club project. A local idea that grows through a district grant. Clubs in different parts of the world joining together through a global grant. Or a Rotarian making a gift, large or small, knowing it will become part of something bigger.

This November, consider taking a few minutes at your club meeting to talk about The Rotary Foundation. Share a Foundation-funded project your club is proud of. Invite members who have participated in a grant project to tell their story. Help newer Rotarians understand how the Foundation connects their local club to Rotary's worldwide impact.

And, if you're able, consider making a personal gift.

Because the real story of The Rotary Foundation isn't the money we raise. It's what Rotarians are able to do with it.

That's how generosity becomes service.
That's how an idea becomes impact.
And that's how Rotarians, working together, create lasting change.
